Have you ever had moments in life where something was looming ahead of you and you had no idea how you were going to manage, or make it through... you struggle to trust God, but then, right at the last minute a way is made before you?

Moses parting the waters

And, have you ever contemplated how the Israelites must have felt when they reached the Red Sea? Realising that the Egyptian soldiers were not far behind in pursuit of them and there was no way that could be seen as a way to escape when nothing but a great body of water lay ahead of them and rocky mountains on either side of them? They felt trapped and scared, and they lost hope that God would make a way for them.

Imagine now the faith of Moses who had every faith and confidence in God who had brought them this far and he knew that God would not fail them now. Moses knew what God was capable of, and he also knew that all he had to do was to listen to hear God's voice which gave him direction, and then speak with power and authority as God commanded him to. Moses had that faith 100% trusting that God would do what God said He would do.

The Bible encourages us that as christians, we are to have this same level of faith; but, sometimes we are challenged by how things appear... and like the Israelites, we fear and doubt.

Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as, “ the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

Now, let's look at Abram when God promised him countless descendants... Genesis 15:6 says Abram “believed the LORD, and He counted it to him as righteousness.”

The Apostle Paul later commented on this in Romans 4:20-21 saying, “No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.”

So these examples show that faith means putting your trust in God and having confidence that He will fulfill his promises.

Trusting God is a choice to have faith in what God says even when your feelings, or your circumstances would have you believe something different.

In the days before Jesus was to be crucified... Jesus Himself felt overwhelmed by what was before Him, and He went straight to His Father and prayed. Mark 14:34-36 reads: "He said to them, 'I am deeply grieved to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake.' He went a little farther, fell to the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, 'Abba, Father! All things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but your will be done.'"

Jesus was feeling a very human emotion... STRESS. He knew what was ahead for him, he knew he would be beaten and tortured unto death, but still, Jesus was hoping that maybe God would come up with a different plan. Yet even still, Jesus chose to accept whatever plan that God the Father had deemed best to fulfill the purpose for which He sent His son, saying... "not my will, but yours be done."

We all face challenging times, and it can be difficult to not feel the apprehension of it. And sometimes it can be very hard to see hope or a way out of our troubles. But scripture reminds us to "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

When we give thanks to God in all circumstances, both in the good and the bad times... we are outwardly showing that no matter what the circumstance, we will trust the Lord with all our heart and soul.

We can also call out to God for help in our circumstances too. Psalm 34:17 says, "When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles."

So when you face challenges in life, no matter how impossible your circumstance may seem... know that in God's perfect timing, He will make a way even if it seems to us that there is no way. God is able! And understand that God's way out of the problem may be different from what you envision or would prefer. But, keep being faithful, and put your trust in Him. God will see you through, and He will get you to where you need to be according to His will and purpose for you.
